2113

West Bend Stoneware Bean Pot with Warmer Unit & 4 Bowls This is one terrific stoneware set, vintage age and in excellent condition. West Bend called this a bean pot or patio server set. The stoneware cook pot stands 5 1/4 inches tall exclusive of the lid and has a 4 1/2 interior depth. The eared handle cups are 2 3/4 inches tall and measure 3 inches across the top opening. The warming unit works well, and is marked with the West Bend, Heat Rite name.

All the pieces have a white background with a decoration of measuring spoons and barbecue fork, done in brown, yellow and black color tones. The only issues of less than perfect condition occurred during the manufacturing process. We note some variations of the slip to the underside of the lid and one of the bowls has what appears to be a dash of brown color that strayed away from the utensil decoration when it was painted.

If you have been searching for a bean, soup, chili or just all-around functional stoneware pot, this one fits the bill. The addition of the warmer unit makes it patio and outside deck perfect. A vintage first slow cooker and four bowls to fill with whatever hearty, stick-to-your-ribs food you decide to create. Each piece has the West Bend, USA name in raised lettering under the base.

This is a heavy set, weighing over 8 pounds before packaging.

Gerz W Germany Earthenware Skillet In Original Box Perhaps best known as a manufacturer of quality steins, the Gerz (Gerzit) Manufactory of W. Germany produced this ovenproof skillet most likely back in the 70’s/80’s time frame. The deep brown skillet measures 7 1/2 inches in diameter and is 11 1/2 inches from the tip of the handle to backside. Fluted design decorates the rim of the hefty, well-made skillet.

The original box shows age related wear, but is intact with manufacturing information in German. The underside of the skillet is stamped in black with the Gerz name and trademark, West Germany.

1733

1878 Reading Hardware Cast Metal Apple Peeler Incredibly ingenious in design and craftsmanship, this Reading Hardware manufactured antique apple peeler is 11 inches tall and clamps to a table or other flat surface. An apple is attached to the metal tines, and as the handle is turned, the gears and razor blade device track and peel the apple.

The cast metal peeler is in fine vintage working condition, with only a minimum of age-related wear for its 130+ years. There is a piece that had been broken off and is shown in the pictures. Believe this was present to prevent the unit from being turned backwards. The piece could be glued on, but the machine is totally functional without it. Marked with the Reading Hardware name (located in Lancaster, Pa), this device has both an 1877 date and a patent date of 1878. What a terrific addition to an early working kitchen tool collection!

1788

Vintage Armstrong Glass Spice /Nut Grater Jar–40’s/50's This is a marvelous old glass jar spice/nut grater manufactured by the Armstrong Glass Company, in business from 1938 through 1968. Armstrong had plants in Lancaster, Pa, Millville, N.J. and in Dunkirk, Indiana. This 7 1/inch tall bottle with a 2 1/2 inch width has an embossed A in a Circle trademark under the base, and a line underneath. That symbol identifies this jar as being produced in Armstrong’s Dunkirk plant.

The body of the jar has frond or leaf like raised spirals. A red metal screw cap allows you to remove the yellow plastic top portion in order to place your nutmeg, cloves, or even small nut pieces on the metal grating device. To grate, just turn the key device, and you’re ready to go. The plastic dome also has graduated markings for up to 6 teaspoons or 2 tablespoons of your grated spice or nut.

The upper portion unscrews to access the inside of the glass jar. The yellow plastic cover over the grinding tines/blades has a thumb tab to add spice or nuts. The red circular disc at the top of the device rotates to open or close the shaker port. The jar was most likely manufactured in the 40’s to 50’s time frame, and is in fine vintage condition without any cracks or chips to the glass or to the plastic parts. The metal blade grater, and the turn key device are in excellent condition as well.

1794

Vintage HLC Fiesta Set of 4 Turquoise Coffee Mugs MINT Each of these terrific turquoise Fiesta coffee mugs stands 3 1/2 inches tall and measures 3 inches across the top opening. They also came to be known as Tom & Jerry mugs because they resemble the shape of the cups or mugs used in that particular style punch set. Distinctive loop handle with the ring pattern sets these apart from the standard style mug.

Manufacturing of products with the turquoise color began in the late thirties and continued into the early 70’s. The mugs we offer for sale are of vintage age, not the contemporary Homer Laughlin, with all of the mugs stamped HLC, Fiesta in script and USA beneath. All are in marvelous condition without any cracks, chips, or nicks, have a bright, shiny glazed appearance, and appear to be unused.

11161

'40's Siam Art Boxed Serving Fork & Knife Buddha Design Inside the cover of the 14 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch wooden box, the marking reads, Siamese Art, Behind the Erauan Hotel & Pleonghit Rd, Bangkok with trademark of Siamese dancer figure.

The official name change from Siam to Thailand occurred in 1949 and our belief is that this two pronged 10 1/2 inch long fork, and 13 inch long carving knife were created in the late forties time period. Intricate Buddha decorations adorn the handles of the two brass and Bakelite utensils, and each is marked Siam on the backside. The boxed serving/carving set is in fine vintage condition with only slight age related wear.
