'49 Framed Humphrey Bogart/Lauren Bacall NY News Print Entitled, Bogey And Baby this N.Y. News Sunday supplement cover is a wonderful find for the old time Hollywood movie fan. The Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall print measures 15 x 11 inches, with the total frame size being 18 1/2 x 14 1/2 inches.

The original N.Y. News Sunday supplement of May 22, 1949 featured the popular Hollywood couple who married one another in 1945. They had met in 1944 when both were chosen to play lead roles in the movie, To Have And To Have Not, based on the Earnest Hemingway novel. Bacall was just twenty years old and Bogart was forty seven when they were wed.

Considered to be a part of the Old Glamorous Hollywood, Bogart and Bacall are recognized for their acting skills and their devotion as a couple. Print and frame are in fine vintage condition with some age related staining on the white back up board on the lower right side, which can be seen in our pictures, and minor scuffing on the old wood frame. There is art wire attached to the backside, making this framed print ready for display.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 1735: Life Magazine Dec 1969 Special Double Issue The Sixties
Click for more detail...
1735

Life Magazine Dec 1969 Special Double Issue The Sixties The last Life magazine of the 60’s, this two-in-one issue is dated Dec. 26, 1969. From Vietnam, to political life in the United States, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert, and Dr. Martin Luther King, the Civil Rights Movement, the new frontier of space, and the moon landing, to Beatles music, and much more are captured in 115 pages of text and photo essays.

The 11 inch by 14 inch magazine is impressive in the scope and events that shaped America’s course into the seventies and beyond. This is a marvelous memento of a tumultuous time in our history, with age-related browning to its pages. In addition, page 13/14 has been torn out, and page 34 is missing the picture of President Kennedy. He, along with Presidents Truman and Eisenhower (their pictures are still on the page) were gathered for the funeral of Sam Rayburn, the former Speaker of the House. The next two pages are taped at the bottom, but these are the only other issues.

Beyond the extraordinary events, this Life magazine is chock-full of full page and lesser size classic advertisements, which would make terrific frame ready prints. Among these are General Telephone & Electronics featuring a full size Porky Pig done by Seven Arts for Warner Bros, Campbell soup showing a superimposed Andy Warhol on the can, a 2 page ad of the upcoming 1971 Lockheed 1011 Tristar, Buick’s 1970 Opel Kadett, full page Ford truck and Bronco ad, old Maytag ad, Marlboro and Viceroy ads plus many others.

Kolner Dom Cathedral Porcelain Ashtray Cologne Crest A very attractive 6 inch in diameter porcelain ashtray done on an inset white background with a transfer design of Cologne’s Kolner Dom Cathedral (printed as Koln-RH-Dom under the scene). The 1 inch border is mauve in color with delicate flower and leaf design in gold. The four individual cigarette rests are done in heavy gold treatment.

Although there are no manufacturer’s marks on this ashtray, the Cologne city crest and the Cathedral printing would likely make this ashtray of German origin. It is in fine vintage condition without any cracks, chips, or nicks, and by its appearance would have been used for display only.
