1770

Harper’s Magazine Nov. 1967 Issue-Capote, Satchmo
What a blending of political, social and entertainment stories all in one 140 page magazine! Harper’s, Nov. 1967 issue featured an article by David Halberstam on John Kenneth Galbraith, one of the leading economic minds of the day. Other featured stories included the Social/Industrial Complex, and Voice From a Cloud by Truman Capote in which he discusses his very early short story writings, and the published release of Other Voices, Other Rooms when he was only 23 years old.

Alfred Kazin’s article on his trip to Israel just shortly after their victorious six day war profiles both the people and imagery of the country. Larry Kings’s Everybody’s Louis gives the reader new insights of Satchmo. Age related browning to the pages and wear to the cover, but no rips, tears or markings.

1627

Vtg ANCO Resin Wall Hanging/Tray Williamsburg VA Decor Combining the look of wood with its raised decoration of Williamsburg, Virginia scenes, this resin composite tray is a vintage stand-out. Measuring 11 3/4 inches across and 8 1/4 inches from front to back, the recessed tray has four cleats or wedges for displaying on a table surface or can be hung on a wall by attaching a wire or cord hanger through the two pre-drilled holes.

The interior scene features the Royal Governor’s Palace, stately manor, trees, and stone wall along with a Colonial horse-drawn coach and figures, and a Pillory scene with its openings for head and arms of those individuals who were punished publicly in the town square.

There are no cracks, chips, or nicks on this piece which nicely complements an Early American, Colonial décor. The backside has the ANCO name with an arrow through it. The Arrow Novelty Company of New York City made quality resin commemoratives during the 30/s-50’s.
