Wildlife artist Neal Anderson recreated his winning 1989 Federal Duck Stamp design as the 1st issue of this gold rimmed, W.S. George plate, The Lesser Scaup, also known as the Blue-Bill Duck.
The mating pair are shown in a simple marsh environment, allowing them to be the stars of this 1990 plate, offered by the Bradford Exchange.
The 8 1/2 inch in diameter plate captures the textures, colors, and sheen of the swimming ducks, and is signed by the artist beneath the scene.
We are offering a mahogany, gold inner banded Van Hygan & Smythe hardwood frame with the plate, making it display ready. The only note we make is of some light scuffing on the gold band, otherwise the frame is in fine condition.
The Lesser Scaup plate is in excellent condition, has all the artist, Bradford Exchange information on the backside, along with the original paperwork and certificate of authenticity, but not the original box. The initial offering price of the plate in 1990 was $27.50, and we are offering both the plate at frame for a much lower cost. |
