For the offering is a simply marvelous Santa Anita of California pedestal sugar bowl with lid done in the pattern, Yellow Hibiscus. From the flowers of Hawaii series, this near perfect sugar bowl measures 7 1/4 inches across from handle to handle, stands 3 inches high, and has an interior depth of 2 1/2 inches. On an ivory/cream colored background, are two clusters of yellow Hibiscus, one on the front, and the second on the backside.
Smaller clusters of the Hawaiian flowers decorate the lid, which has a coiled, looped finial. There are no chips, cracks, or flakes on this sugar bowl and the colors are bright and vivid. Piece carries the Santa Anita name, Copyright, 1949, along with pattern name, and Styled by Iranda. |
