Commemorating the world’s largest triumphal arch is this superb, artist-signed, Arc De Triomphe plate. Bought on a visit to Paris, France in 1968 by the sole previous owner who had even attached a now browned note of authenticity, to attest to its origins.
The 8 3/8 inch in diameter plate is a marvelous rendering of Napoleon’s victory arch built in the early 1800’s, and much associated with the welcoming entrance into Paris. The artist-signed arch scene is slightly recessed, and the surrounding 1 inch gilt scroll and leaf design appears as bright and elegant as it did forty years ago.
Stamped in green on the backside, Limoges, France, this plate is in very fine vintage condition with the only note we make is of tiny dimpling near the rim of the plate that occurred during the manufacturing process (not perceptible in pictures).
We are also including a black plastic stand to make this beautiful plate display-ready. |
