A special Mother’s Day plate by Fenton, done on white porcelain, which reproduces a 1760 painting by Giovanni Batista Tiepolo, a master Venetian artist.
Measuring 7 1/2 inches in diameter, the plate has an embossed, raised flower, leaf, and ribbon edging. The center depicts Tiepolo’s Madonna, nestling her babe. The child is holding a goldfinch in his left hand.
This is a very compelling with fine craftsmanship and attention to detail. Mother’s Day 1972 is printed beneath the Madonna & Child. The backside of this excellent condition plate has the Fenton name, logo and history of its artwork all in embossing. |
