Artist Christine Graf, whose prints hang both in the President Reagan library and the Smithsonian Institute, is offered here on a 5 1/2 by 6 1/2 inch wood block print from 1986. Created for the American Greetings Company, this folk art delight features Ms. Graf’s unique early Americana designs, and border treatment.
Done on a beige background, the wood print has a central oval depicting figures in 1920’s/1930’s style clothing playing croquet on the font lawn. Muted pastel colors of green, burgundy, and blue, along with her trademark border treatment, add charm to this print. The wood block is polychromed and has a high-gloss surface.

Print is in fine vintage condition, with some slight wear to the backside bottom.
Christine Graf’s large-sized prints command hundreds of dollars. She was the artist chosen by President and Mrs. Reagan to recreate on canvas the White House, Easter Egg Event, which now hangs in the Reagan library. The wood block print has the artist’s signature beneath the lawn scene, and a gold American Greetings Signature Collection label. There is a brass hanger at the top, as well as a saw-tooth hanger on the back. |
