Beautiful robin’s egg blue iridescent coloring and gold enhancements make this tea set very attractive and eye-catching.
Manufactured by New York China and Glass Company, the set consists of a teapot which stands 6 3/4 inches tall to the top of lid and measures 9 inches across from handle to end of spout. The creamer is 3 1/2 inches tall and is 3 3/4 inches across the top opening. The sugar bowl stands 3 1/2 inches tall without the lid which adds another 2 1/4 inches in height. All the pieces have bright, vivid coloring and the gold trim is intact. There are no chips, cracks, or staining.
Although we were unable to exactly date this set, we believe that it was manufactured in the late 40’s – early 50’s time frame. The teapot does not have a stop lock which would be typical of the earlier produced tea wares.
Each of the pieces is stamped under the base with C & G in two squares, the trademark of the New York China Company, which was founded in 1946, and Warranted 22K Gold. |
