The Upico design line was first introduced in 1938 by the Cambridge Ohio, Universal Pottery Company. It is a fine grade of semi-porcelain done with a heavy glaze treatment, and edged in 22K gold. This 11 1/4 inch x 8 1/2 inch platter has an ivory background, with a three rose and leaf decoration, and banding encircling the rim.
It is hallmarked on the backside with the Universal Pottery name and an AFL Union label for the Brotherhood of Operative Potteries. The platter does not have any cracks or chips, but it does have some crazing and areas of acid staining at the flower decoration and on the backside. |
