A swag treatment of pretty pink and blue flowers along with apricot luster beneath the top edging combine for an appealing design on this 1928 Homer Laughlin Newell shaped creamer. Could also be a Frederick Rhead design since he came on board as chief designer in the beginning of 1928.
There are a few glaze pops on the inside bottom, and some light acid staining, but over-all for its 80+ years, it is in fine vintage shape.
The F 8 L stamp found underneath the base indicates that this piece was manufactured in 1928. During the 20’s decade, Homer Laughlin used a one to nine numbering system to stand for each of the 1920 years. The first letter (in this marking an F) went from A through M (no I) and signifies the month of manufacture. F stands for June, of 1928. The last letter (L) indicates the plant location. |
