Marked with the anchor logo without the letter H for Hocking, this 5 1/4 inch tall glass mug combines a mug body appearance with its top looking like a Mason jar. It most likely had some type of lid originally, because there are the words, Not for home canning embossed on the backside near the bottom.
Early history of Anchor glassware speaks of the variety of commemorative items this company manufactured for school graduations, historical events, retirements, businesses. This mug has an oval design with scalloped edging front and center. Inside that oval are a crest/shield design, a handled oil lamp, and what appears to be a kettle or cauldron on a hanger. There are no additional identifying markings but this is a terrific old mug in fine vintage condition. |
