This is a rarely seen porcelain tea service from the noted Bavarian manufacturer, Rudolf Wachter. Enhanced with sterling silver overlay, the fine old set combines marvelous styling and craftsmanship, and includes the word, Feinsilber, (Fine Silver) as part of the trademark stamp.
The 7 1/2 inch tall teapot has a matching 3 inch tall creamer and a covered sugar bowl, standing 4 1/4 inches tall to the top of finial on lid. Seven demitasse cups are 1 3/4 inches tall and measure 2 3/4 inches across the top opening. All of these pieces are in excellent vintage condition without any cracks, nicks, or chips.
The teapot, creamer and sugar all have the R.W. (for Rudolf Wachter) trademark, and Bavaria The Bavarian Porzellan Manufactary was in business from 1917 until its closing in 1974, and although there is no year date noted, we believe that the time frame is between 1930’s-1940’s. |
