The Ever Alert ribbon banner at the top of this terrific old firefighter’s sign really does tell the tale of the vigilant and valiant volunteers who manned the hoses and fought the fires in our country’s early days.
The 23 inch long 9 1/2 inch wide wood sign is based on the old Currier & Ives print, Rushing to the Conflict. The primitive sign with its bright colorful firefighting image, and wire hanger in place on the backside, is sure to please. There is a hairline split in the wood at the top of the sign, but it does not detract from its display worthiness. A paper label carries the name of Pickett’s Post, an antique and collectible shop located in Holmdel, N.J.
