This is a lovely green and white 4 1/2 inch in diameter porcelain ashtray done as a commemorative in 1947 for the University of Maine. This piece was used for display only and is in excellent vintage condition, without any cracks, chips or nicks.
The recessed center depicts Fernald Hall, the oldest stone building on campus, while the border has three separate pine cone and leaf decorations. The backside has individual green stamps for Wedgwood of Etruria and Barleston, one for the University of Maine, year date 1947 1st Edition, Fernald Hall, and one stamp for James M. Duffee & Stratton Brothers as sole importers. |
