This special vintage musical plays I’ve Been Working on the Railroad while a train revolves around a windmill with turning blades. We believe this to have been made in the 50’s/60’s time frame.

It was made in Hong Kong and sold by HTC, and those initials are on a bottom sticker.
The music box movement is unique as it performs 3 actions. It plays the musical, it rotates the windmill blades, and an arm of the musical circles the train, slightly above the tracks. The musical is wound by rotating the windmill blades.
We don’t believe that this was made as a child’s toy. It has a primitive sculpture look, is functional and made for that railroad enthusiast. It is all tin construction, except for the movement and some support rods. It stands 8 3/4 inches tall and is 10 inches wide, and would certainly be a unique piece for your collection. It is in very good working condition with the only note we make is spots of welding splatter from the assembly around the musical, and this is shown in our pictures.
Wind the windmill blades, sit back and listen to I’ve Been Working on the Railroad and watch the train go round. You may even want to invite some friends – All aboard for a unique and marvelous musical sculpture. |
