This is a wonderful book to read and to review all the oddities of early medicines.

Prior to the 1907 Pure Food & Drug Act, there were all sorts of proclaimed doctors putting out concoctions called Patent Medicines. These were neither patented, nor most of the time, effective. These medicinal products carried the names of many quacks, and snake oil medicine men.

This 1961 book captures most of those early linaments, nostrums, and cure-alls in its 125 pages of words and black and white prints. As the title aptly says, One For A Man, Two For A Horse because a man needs just one bottle, but the horse requires two.

You’ll enjoy this book with its serious and humorous ads for medicine to cure what ails you. The dust jacket has a tear out at the bottom and tears to the top edge, and the blank page, inside the cover, has a light black mark at the top. The book binding and spine are strong, and there are no additional writings or marks in the book.

To save you money on book shipments, especially on heavier books, customers within the U.S. may opt for Media Mail shipping through the U.S. Postal Service. Please email us your zip code destination for shipping quote and conditions.
