This is a terrific piece of folk art wood carving in the figure of an African tribal man playing a drum.
He is standing on a 2 1/4 inch by 1 1/2 inch block wood base and has wonderful linear features. The drummer is primitive in appearance, accentuated by his long arms, legs, and neck, and the tall drum.
The darker tones we attribute to knot areas in the wood. This folk art piece has been carved from one piece of wood. There are no glued together pieces and overall it is in fine condition, unmarked as to artist or origin. |
