This is a glossy photograph print that was made famous by the Nashville freelance photographer Elmer Williams. Between the years 1954 and 1959, Williams captured many performers and soon to be big stars on film. Photos taken of Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee, Elvis and Johnny Cash by Williams (some as album covers) can be found on the web with people having been cropped out and sizes changed, or no dates or names or credit to the photographer.
The printed date on this titled and dated Elmer Williams photograph is December 22, 1957 and was taken backstage at the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditiorium. This print measures 8 inches by 10 3/16 inches to the edge. There is a white border of 3/8 inch at the top and two sides.

There is a 1 inch white border at the bottom of the print which has the names, Johnny Cash & Elvis, December 22, 1957 and Photography By Elmer Williams. We have kept the photograph in the same 10 1/4 inch by 12 inch frame that it was in when we purchased it at an estate sale in Florida.
Unfortunately, today, anyone can download a picture or print and run it through a printer. We, too, have put in wordage so as not to have this picture freely downloaded. The wording in our description above is the exact wording the buyer will have on the Elmer Williams photo. The photograph is in great condition and would make a terrific addition to an Elvis, Johnny Cash collection. |
