Produced in 1974, and marked RGW, genuine Cumberland porcelain, this tall 12 inch decanter is a visual stroll down colonial Virginia during the early 1600’s to the later 1700’s. Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, and John Marshall, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, all Virginians, have their portrait on the decanter.
Scenes include a Jamestown Church, the Wren Building at William & Mary College, the Virginia Capitol at Williamsburg, and the Nelson House in Yorktown, which housed Cornwallis’s staff.
The decanter has a lid with cork closure in place, and is in fine condition without any cracks, chips, or nicks. It is marked under the 4 inch diameter base with R G W, Old Rip Van Winkle, Genuine Cumberland Porcelain, and year dated, 1974. |
