This Alpine White English Ironstone pitcher by Wood & Sons stands stands 6 1/2 inches tall and is 4 3/8 inches wide across the rim to the spout.
It features a country design of a little girl, butter churn, sack of flour and barrel on the front along with measuring conversions: 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon, 4 tablespoons = 1/4 cup, etc. The design, wording, and also the band accents that appear around the rim and handle are done in brown.
Marked on the bottom: Wood & Sons Burslem England Alpine White English Ironstone. Also has the lion stamp with the notation Ralph 1750 Moses 1751 Enoch 1784 above the lion design. This backstamp corresponds to the late 1940's time frame as the date of manufacture.
In great condition, free of any chips, cracks or flakes. There are crazing lines present on various areas of the pitcher, however, it does not detract from its appeal. |
