Designed by and signed Nina, 1982, the farm scene on each of the Anchor Hocking jars has a wonderful primitive country look, making them ideal for display/storage/canning. The smallest stands 6 inches tall, the medium size is 8 inches tall, and the largest stands 9 3/4 inches tall to the top of the blue glazed ceramic lid. The use of the ceramic lid seems to be unusual and rare. We have seen glass, metal, and plastic closures but no others listed with glazed ceramic lids.
The jars are in very fine condition without cracks, chips, or nicks and both the wire bail closure and ceramic lid have only slight wear associated with their age, and mild corrosion to the metal closures. Rubber gaskets are in place at the bottom of the lids for an airtight seal. Marked Japan under the lids with the Anchor Hocking trademark under the base, accompanied by the #5 for the smallest (1 qt), #9 for the medium size (1.5 qt) and #2 for the largest size jar (2 qts). |
