Circa: 1998 Manufacturer: Bryan China
This set is comprised of 4 mugs, each featuring a Morton Salt girl from a different year. Set was put out to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the company. The Morton Salt Company was incorporated in 1911, with the Morton umbrella girl and slogan first appearing on a blue package of table salt in 1914. The umbrella girl design was updated in the years 1921, 1933, 1941, 1956 and 1968.
The girls depicted on the mugs were from the years 1914, 1921, 1956 and 1968. The two earliest years in this set feature the design entirely in blue and white. The two later years gold coloring was incorporated into the blue and white design.
Mugs stand 3 3/4 inches tall and are 2 7/8 inches in diameter across the top. Mugs appear to be in unused condition, with no imperfections noted. Marked on the bottoms: Bryan China New Castle, PA Made in China. Set comes with the original styrofoam packaging and brochure/insert which chronicles the company's history. |
