This is a postally used 1957 color photograph postcard of the start of the Alaska Hi-way, known as Mile Zero. The signpost lists distances to Alaskan cities, with Fairbanks being the farthest at 1523 miles.
Interesting too is the author’s message, saying that he only had 1600 more miles to go – roads are rough – replaced two tires and today the windshield cracked. Ends the postcard by saying, Can’t complain, getting 18 miles to the gallon. The photograph is by Neilson, - note the vintage blue and white auto to the left of signpost, which looks like a Metropolitan. No tears, just some corner edge wear and yellowing to message side. A 4 cent Canadian stamp in place with newly crowned Queen Elizabeth portrait.
