The New York City, Plymouth Harlee Company created this stunning Victorian style lamp most likely during the 30’s/40’s time period. Standing 25 1/4 inches to the top of the socket, this marvelous lamp has a shell and scroll design on the 9 3/4 inch cast metal base and sits on four elevated feet.
The glass globe is 9 1/2 inches in diameter, has a blended beige and white color palette and a wonderful metal flower and leaf treatment on the front which continues on both the left and right side. Accurate Casting is the Chicago based company which worked their quality metal casting on the lamp which includes two cherubs and grape vines statuary measuring 5 inches tall.
The lamp has a 6 foot cord and a new harp fixture to replace the corroded old version. We do want to make mention that there was no shade to accompany this estate purchase lamp. The Accurate Casting name is embossed on the underside of the metal base. We note that a metal plate has been added to the underside of the base. The lamp is held together by a nut under the base. This nut apparently was tightened too much and pulled out the metal. The metal plate secures this and can only be seen from the underside of the base as that area is under the globe.
All the metal components have a lovely aged patina, with the glass globe and cherub statuary adding just the right Victorian, Art Nouveau look. We are pleased to offer this over-all very fine Plymouth Harlee lamp knowing that it will shine brightly both as a functioning lamp and as a unique artistic piece. |
