Known for his Rocky Mountain landscapes, and his natural wildlife etchings, Richardson Rome’s work can be found hanging in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and the Brooklyn Museum as well as in art galleries across the U.S.A.
Born in Minnesota in 1902, the artist followed varied career paths before opening his own studio in Estes Park, Colorado in the early thirties. Time spent as a wrangler in his early years inspired much of his art work, making him a keen observer of nature and landscapes.
This thirties/forties etching measures 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches in total framed size, with the matted etching being 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches. Simply titled, Morning, it depicts several mallard ducks taking flight from their marsh sanctuary to search for the day’s food. Richardson Rome’s pencil signature is on the bottom right hand side of the etching. We do note slight age fading or burn to the surrounding mat area, and this can be seen in our pictures.
About the artist information can be found on the backside, along with a leather loop hanger, making this nature enthusiast’s etching ready for display. |
