Taken from the Marx Brothers lobby card promotion for the 1939 MGM movie, At The Circus, this 11 1/4 x 14 1/2 inch reverse print on glass captures just the right look for Groucho, Harpo, and Chico. The reverse print is on a mirrored surface. In order not to pick up any reflections from objects in the room, a white backdrop was used to block those reflections. The background shows as white in our pictures.
This is a unique piece of vintage film memorabilia. We could find no other Marx Brothers glass print in our internet search. We do not know the date of production, but judge it to be somewhere in the 50’s/60’s time frame.
We do note some scuffing and age-related wear to the wooden frame, and minor glass chips in the upper left corner and the lower right-hand corner. The original wire hanger on the backside was corroding, so we have replaced that with a bracket. Here’s an opportunity to own a marvelous reverse glass print of one of the best comedy trios to hit the movie screen. |
