The Quincentennial (500th year anniversary) of the first European explorers to reach the New World has been commemorated in this Limited Edition 1991 porcelain plate series entitled, Age of Discovery. The plate is signed by the noted portrait artist, Constance Del Vecchio Maltese, who was commissioned to paint these world changing explorers and navigators of the 15th century. This First Edition 8 1/2 inch in diameter plate, edged in 23k gold, honors Christopher Columbus who set off with his crew in three sailing ships: the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria in 1492. Printed on the backside of this fine art collectible is information regarding the plate and Age of Discovery series. For both readiness and ease of display, we are including a wooden plate stand with this purchase. |
