This Griswold 6 inch solid oil damper, with its 9 1/2 inch long steel spindle, is a fine cast iron piece of memorabilia from the good old days. The four patent #’s printed on the reversible damper reference the year dates of 1937-1939. The Erie, Pennsylvania Company began business in 1867 and was sold to Wagner, their main competitor, in 1957.
This is not being sold as a functioning damper, but rather as a terrific collectible cast iron memento of a bygone era. There is some wear and scuffing, in keeping with its 70+ years, but over-all, this Griswold is in wonderful display condition. |
