Full color 1972 reproduction lithographs of original Saturday Evening Post Covers first done in 1936 are offered on fine quality paper and come in the original envelope. A young boy and girl are shown in a soda shoppe, sitting on stools at the counter. The little girl, who has a dreamy look on her face, has finished her soda fountain drink and a half-eaten bag of peanuts is lying on the floor. The young lad has this wide-eyed look of Oh my gosh, do I have the money to pay for this? as he reaches into his pocket. The next litho is entitled, The Double Ride and is a scene from a butcher shop. Here you have an older lady on one side of the scale, and the clerk or butcher on the other side of the scale. She’s pushing up with one finger under the scale to decrease the weight on the chicken she’s buying, and his finger is pushing down to increase the weight of her purchase. This litho also has the title of an article by John Raymond McCarl called, Government – Run – Everything. From 1936, this could be a heading in a magazine today. The prints are in very fine vintage condition without any damage issues, and are suitable for framing. The original envelope does have some wear and soiling to the backside, but no rips, tears, or creases. |
