Light filtering through the clear glass with its vibrant, colorful horse and flower decoration gives a window pane or stained glass appearance to this 9 inch tall BMF tankard/stein. A sturdy pewter thumb hold and lid is attached to the 4 inch long solid glass handle.
The stein was manufactured prior to 1990 when East and West Germany were re-united, and it is possible that the time frame is as early as the 1950’s for this piece. The flaring paneled bottom does suggest older glass manufacture. We do know that the stein is in very fine vintage condition, without any cracks, chips, or damage to the pewter. |
