Each of the color photography placemats measures 17 1/4 x 11 1/4 inches and has a different scene of the island. Two feature Hamilton Street views, one of Front Street with its shops and one titled, Beating of the Retreat with the regimental guards at nighttime.
One has the local police Constabulary in his small traffic house location at Heyl’s Corner. Titled, South Shore Beauty Spot this placemat and Jobson’s Cove depicts the marvelous panorama of the natural rock formations. In that same category of natural beauty are the Arches found in Tucker’s Town.
There are no year dates listed, but we believe these placemats would mostly likely have been done within the 70’s/80’s time line. Some of the placemats do give credit to the photographer on the bottom right hand side while others do not have that information. The placemats do have some edge yellowing/browning along with minor scuffing, but over-all they are in very fine vintage condition, and could also be used as wonderful framed art prints. |
