What a marvelous Southwest oil painting this is – the desert scene looks as if it was plucked from its natural setting and set down on canvas! Color, form, and that beguiling light lend an almost other worldly appearance to this artwork.
The painted oil is 19 1/2 x 23 1/2 inches with the total framed size being 23 1/2 inches x 27 1/2 inches. The beauty of the desert sunset with those mesas, buttes, and cactus is mesmerizing. Bernard Duggan had an inner eye that enabled him to convey a sense of an ever changing light source and radiance to this landscape.
The rough hewn wood frame with the inset rope adds just the right natural touch to complement Duggan’s desert scene. There is also a picture wire strung on the backside for ready wall mounting. Although there is not much information to be found regarding the artist, Bernard Duggan‘s works have been well-recognized and acknowledged in Southwest galleries. This landscape oil is in very fine vintage condition with just some minor scuffing to the frame, and makes for an outstanding visual display.
