This is an intriguing church plate, with a dual history. Freehold Presbyterian Church in Charlton, N.Y. was founded in 1786 by settlers from Freehold, N.J. who arrived in 1774, and wanted to honor their former town. The plate is a Homer Laughlin blank and has a green stamp, marked L68NS, with the company’s name on the backside. The church design was done in maroon/burgundy on an ivory/cream background by World Wide Arts Studio of Covington, Tennessee and their stamp is also on the backside.

Included as well is a detailed history of how the Freehold Presbyterian Church of Charlton, N.Y. came to be built and how it had grown over the years up to 1950. The undated plate most likely was produced during the late 1960’s time frame, and is in very good vintage condition, without any chips or nicks. We are including an acrylic plate stand for ready display.
